Wells Grey is 3!

Oh Wellsie Grey-
I can NOT believe you entered into our family 3 years ago! You are such a sweet boy and are full of wonder and excitement. I am so thankful for your health, your role both as little and big brother and your laughter. You are a delight. You still enjoy cuddles and kisses. You are so special to us. We love having you in our family and are so proud to call you ours!
Happy 3rd Birthday, Wells!!

Wells is {almost} 3!!

Wells turns THREE tomorrow but this past weekend we celebrated with grandparents and had a great time! We surprised everyone with a piƱata and it was a hit!!

Ruby was quite unsure at how we take things away from her all day long but on Saturday night we handed her a stick and told her to go at it. She had this look like, "You all have lost your minds!"

This kid is so cute and handsome! He is starting to say the cutest things. He loooooves white potatoes and I can't eat them so I rarely make them but recently I made mashed potatoes and he said the cutest thing when he saw them on the table…."Momma! You make mash -tatoes? All by you self? I so proud of you, momma!" So. cute.
Poppa and Wells!
Ruby enjoyed showing off for her grandparents

Our last 18mo old!

My my my, I can't believe how much time is flying by! (stop that rhyming now I mean it…anybody want a peanut?!?! hahahaha!)
It's really hard to believe we are here with our last baby. 18mo. Such a fun fun age. Except this chick is kicking it to a whole new level.
She is EVERY. WHERE. and in EVERY. THING. It's amazing the difference in personalities in each our children and this girl is very much sugar & spice. She can be the CuTeSt little thing and then you turn around and she's sitting on top of the table….or she will come give you kisses and then sneak away to play in the toilet. It really is amazing how fast time is moving. There is a part of me that really misses the baby stage. This is such an exciting time in a house with a new member of the family and all the "firsts". But, I gotta tell you, I'm really enjoying this stage. All the conversations we get to have around the table every night, hearing the boys negotiating and laughing with each other. It really is fun. Here are a few pictures I got to snap and at the bottom is a comparison of all of the kiddos. What do you think? Do you think they look alike??

Copeland Carmel Cadwallader

Did I tell y'all we got a bunny? We did. Just a smidge early for Easter. Really, we'd been wanting one and Easter was the perfect time to add a little addition to our "farm". She is such a sweet bunny & we really enjoy having her.

Easter 2015

Leading up to Easter was so much fun and we had so much fun talking about Easter and the reason we get to celebrate. Easter itself was a little odd. It just seemed like mass chaos with our little tribe. There was lots of drama and fussing and melt downs and it wasn't really out of the ordinary and more of a typical day but I think Kit & I were hoping for a calmer day. Oh well…someday :).
Saturday night we got to dye eggs with the kiddos and that is always a fun time. This was something I didn't do as a kid but Kit did and it's been a fun tradition to add in.

Sunday morning we had me maw's cinnamon rolls & easter egg fruit cups before heading to the early Easter service. It was such a beautiful service!
I sure did try for a cute Easter picture and this is what we got. Pretty cute even tho it isn't the best "posed" pic.

We did not get a family pic this year so selflies in front of the mirror will have to do I guess!

Friday night we celebrated Easter with my side of the family & my parents did an egg hunt. This year my mom was smart and color coordinated the eggs so they were each searching for a color. Great idea and so fun!

Where are my babies…?

I can't believe my babies are so grown up! I can definitely get caught up in looking through old pictures….anyone else? Looking through pictures I can not believe how grown my babies are getting! I'm currently typing this while Wells & Ruby are napping (thank you, Jesus!) and Henry & Porter are putting together Legos.
I full heartedly believe in the quote, "The days are long but the years are short". Sometimes the days are sooooooo. loooooong. But no more babies in our house!
Ruby is walking…errr….running everywhere and starting to say more words and is one smart cookie.
Porter is loving preschool and Wells and Porter are becoming some pretty great friends. Wells is a funny little guy. One word for him:: "passionate".
Henry is doing well in school and making lots of friends and has a sweet heart for sharing with others….
These last 6 years have been fun. and hard.
I'm loving this stage of everyone walking and somewhat talking.
Looking forward with new excitement of what is to come!

Remember why you started in the first place...

I sat down this morning to blog about cute things my kids have said and post pics of their kissable faces but instead I felt lead to write another type of post. So here goes!
It was a year ago last week when I started to radically change the way I ate and although at times it still isn't easy, it's always been worth it.
A year ago I'd been home from the hospital, recovering from the sepsis but still very much battling the ulcerative colitis. I'd seen a few GIs and they all ranged from opinions of harsh medications to talking complete removal of my large intestine. To keep me "stable" I was pumped full of steroids and was trying to wean myself off of them. But like with anything, if you keep doing the same things, you'll keep getting the same results.
I had searched the internet and seen where people had relief from a "lifestyle" change but doctors always shook their heads and said it didn't matter. This was my new life. How depressing!
So, this little voice kept saying down deep how food could help but I didn't know anyone personally to share their story. Until one day on Facebook I got a message from a friend I went to high school with, asking to call her and she wanted to encourage me.
When I called her, I had no idea how much life would open up. Not only would she share the fact she too was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis but that she too found relief and ultimately remission with diet.
Wow! That was a changing day for me. January 16, 2014 I kissed all processed food goodbye and with the help of my mom completely started all over in the kitchen. Then I learned of Danielle Walker and her journey with UC and her cookbook, against all grain.
Suddenly, there was hope again.
Shortly after that I went to see a chiropractor naturopath at a wellness center. Boy, I can't believe I just typed that. I worked in the medical industry for a while before having kiddos and there is NO way I would have ever went a "holistic" route before but it's been the best decision ever. Trust me, I still love doctors and appreciate and respect them very much. But have learned for some things, like chronic, there are other ways for treatment.
Suddenly I couldn't find enough information fast enough.
A year later and I still feel that way.
Our family has found a new normal, the UC is not in remission but we are getting there, every single day.
I have hope that one day I will be.
I literally just knelt down and had Porter snap this picture of me as I'm typing this post. This is me one year later. We've learned so much this year. It's hard to type this post in brief but I could go on and on and on.

I still struggle. I still have hard days where I wish I could eat a dairy queen blizzard and fake nacho cheese and chips just because I wanted to but I've learned a lot of how good it is to tell yourself NO and set boundaries. I've recreated a whole new routine for just about everything in my life. Every product I used to use I've researched and replaced from toothpaste to dish soap and detergent.

Sometimes the thought of changing can be overwhelming but when that happens I like to remind myself of a few things….
1. That one good choice usually leads to another one. Just keep making good choices. One choice at a time.
2. That God has FAR better plans for me than I could have ever dreamed for myself. Thank goodness He is in control and I am not.
3. Never once have I ever walked alone in this. Yes, my family has been the most supportive ever and embraced this with me. They are amazing. But it is God who has gone before me and I've never been alone. To be honest, that really took some time to embrace in the early months of "starting over".

"we can be full of joy here and now even in our trials and troubles. these very things will give us patient endurance. This in turn will develop a mature character, and a character of this sort produces steady hope, a hope that will not disappoint us."
romans 5:3-5

if there is something you are wanting to reach for today, go ahead and do it! The time is going to pass anyway…try try try. And if you fall, get up and try again.

Ta-da! I'm back!!!!!

After an amazingly tough year and a few months of dead silence, I am back to writing on the whole bloggity blog! And look at the kiddos….holy moly they are getting so big!
I'm sure if anyone reads this blog, you are family so you already know that WE'VE MOVED!
Yup, we relocated back to Indiana and are pretty much settled in our house. It really is feeling like home…it's just that there is so much potential we see here and are currently making lots of lists in ways to update  and personalize it to our taste.

Our family has lots of birthdays at the end of the year:
Porter turned 4
Our baby girl turned turned ONE

The view out of our new house. SO nice to not see rooftop after rooftop. We really do feel so thankful to be where we are.
Kit celebrated his birthday first in the new house
 and then me
and then Henry turned the big 6!

and after all the guests left we celebrated one year since sepsis for me!!
and Henry had his Christmas program that was adorable. And this picture pretty much sums up my beautiful, crazy, chaotic life.
I'll be back to write more soon! I have lots more updates to do!
Hope everyone is having a great start to the new year.
