Rewind:: Christmas:: Part Two

Porter Meeting the Greats... Actually, he met Gimma at Chic-Fil-A... but I didn't have my camera :)
Grammy

Grampie got a turn
Henry even warmed up to Grammy!

The Grandparents with the Berninger Side

"Grandma Farm" meeting Porter

Winter wonderland {sorta}

Before we went to bed last night almost all schools were canceled for today, (our church service was canceled in the evening) and lots of businesses were also canceling. I woke up at 4 am and heard ice hitting the windows. But, this morning it's already raining instead of snowing like they predicted so right now it's crunchy slush. Kit made it to work although no one else in his group is there yet and his boss already called to say he wasn't coming in...he had already gotten stuck on the road and went back home. I walked {ran} outside to take these pictures and it's clear that NO ONE else in our subdivision has any intention of leaving. Kit is the only tire tracks outside. When he called he said he'd probably he home at lunch since no one came in, production isn't running anything anyway.
I'm just waiting for two cuties to wake up and watch Henry get really excited about the SNOW!

18 weeks!

Porter-
I'm using this as your 18 week picture because you suck on your bottom lip...a lot! You never really did take a pacifier and I'm not sure you'll be a thumb sucker...but you are a noisy little one because awake or asleep...you like suck on your lip!
On Friday night you finally rolled from your tummy to your back :).

Rewind:: Christmas:: Part One

Friends & Snow
We were so excited to see Olivia {And Lindsay & Troy} over Christmas break! She is such a beautiful little lady and it was nice to see her in person and give her some squeezes. She is more adorable in person...a blog just doesn't do it justice! I really wish Memphis & Atlanta weren't so far away!!

It was so awesome to spend a morning with Laura and her girls. We met through 4-H and not until a couple years ago when we became friends on FB, did we realize we both blogged. Well, marriage and two babies later...we finally go to reconnect in person! They are a sweet, sweet family and it was too fun to see all those girls in person! :) MaryGrace & Annabel are just a little bit younger than my boys...aren't they adorable??
Now that's a cute pile of kids
:)
One Morning we got to play in the snow! This is the only day we didn't have something planned and it was enjoyable to relax and take in Indiana!
H all bundled up

Weighing in at four months...

So, I have no idea what happened but I had it in my head that Porter's appt was on Friday, The 7th, and had it written down in three different places that way.

Thankfully, the pediatricians office called to confirm the appt last night...for today! :).
So, without further adieu...
Porter....
weighs...
18#11 ounces (90%)!!!
hahaha
I was laughing so hard when the nurse told me that!
Seriously blew our guesses out of the water!
:)
and
he was 25" long (50%).
We are so thankful for a good, healthy report.
It doesn't matter how chubby your thighs are, it still hurt Porter's little feelings to get shots.
Oh did he wail and stick out that lip.
He cried so hard...Henry started crying and he wasn't getting any shots!
Henry was yelling, "No, Charlie Browns....No, Charlie Browns!! It hurt Porter, no Porter!!
It was really sweet to see Henry so concerned about him brother!
He calls Shots "charlie browns" because the last time he got shots and his legs hurt for days after, Kit called where his shots where "Charlie Browns" because that was what kind of bandaid they gave him. So I guess Porter didn't get Charlie Browns today...instead he got Daffy Ducks!
:)

FoUr MoNtHs!!

Sweet P
You are four months old today!
You are a very happy baby {95% of the time}.
You love the jumperoo.
You are a great napper.
You stopped that 45 minutes nonsense and we are thankful!
:)
We have started to put you down for your naps awake and you can get yourself to sleep...you don't even cry!
You love to eat.
Lately you've been downing a 7 ounce bottle like it's nothing so we give you a couple ounces more! {4 month growth spurt!}
You are still in size 3 diapers (you have been since 7 weeks old)
You are wearing anything from 6 months to 12 months clothing depending on the outfit.
You sleep anywhere from 10 to 12 hours at night but if we don't give you gas drops before bed, you will cry out all. night. long.
You are super smiley...hence the nickname "smiley guy" that Henry loves to call you.
In the mornings when I am half awake and go in to get you out of your crib, you have the biggest smile from ear to ear and you pretty much stay that way throughout the day!
Henry weighed 17#2 and was 24 1/2" long at four months. Your appt is on Friday and we can't WAIT to see how much you weigh!
Perfectly Porter
We love you, Porter! So glad you are in our little family!

2011 so far...

I just have to write a little post and let myself laugh otherwise I just might cry! ha!
Ever since the stroke of midnight when it turned to 2011, things have just not gone my way. Almost immediately afterward I started to not feel well, was put on antibiotics that have made me sicker than a dog, have had more migraines than I had all last year, have been up with Porter in the middle of the night more times than when he was a new baby and this morning lost a couple of glasses {shown above} from the dishwasher!
For every load of laundry I get done, the boys make another {in record time} and all my Christmas decorations are still up!
2011, is this because you know how much I like even years and am not a fan of odds in general? Our Anniversary {2004},
Henry {2008},
Porter {2010}
hahaha :)
Thank goodness Joy does NOT come from our circumstances but from HIM!
I was reminded of that this morning during my quiet time.
The way of joy is to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind.
Hope ya'll are having a great week of back to "normal"...I'm sure trying to!
:)

all by God's grace!
We made it home and sometime I'll get this blog caught up...
I have hundreds of images to sort through so maybe, just maybe I'll get this blog up and going again in a somewhat timely manner!

2nd Birthday!

We had such a great day with Henry for his birthday!
We went to the Atlanta Children's Museum in the morning. He LOVED the tractor, pushing the shopping carts around, playing with the ball pits and making his own music tunes. But, if I were to guess I'd say playing in the sand was by far his favorite!!
We ate lunch at the Varsity, went home for naps and celebrated with friends in the evening...doesn't get much better than that!
And for those of you that were wondering...
yes, Henry got his "happy cake" (Ice cream cake) for his birthday...he was excited and squealed with delight! It was a great day!
Today we went to a new Pediatrician and had Henry's 2 year well check.
We really liked the doctor & office staff and look forward to establishing care with them.
Weight: 29#
Height: 34"
Doin' a little shopping! He would have played with the sand all day!

Blowing out his candle
Playing with Turner & Zoe

Today: Playing with new toys!
:)
We hope my niece Mallory & Miss Kaitlyn had great birthdays, too!!

Henry Wade...

12.16.08

To our firstborn son...

I'll never forget the day we found out we were expecting you!

After a full year of hardship, tests, bloodwork & medication I went to a church women's retreat and surrendered everything to God realizing that we will have a baby in HIS perfect timing. I walked away from that weekend with a peace.

His perfect peace.

It was on the way home I felt an urging to take a pregnancy test.

I just about passed out when that pregnancy test was positive!
We are so thankful for the way God has shaped our family and continues to teach us everyday. One being through our children...

Henry... there isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank God for such an incredible blessing. We wouldn't be the family we are today if you weren't in it and we thank God for that.

You have realized that you have a mind of your own and enjoy keeping us on our toes... making sure your Poppa & I stand united in disciplining you. We discipline you because we LOVE you. Sure, you are naughty somedays but mostly, you are sweet.

I didn't even know boys could be so sweet! :)

Just yesterday you were playing with your toys and I was sweeping the kitchen. Without even prompting, you came and moved the stools out of the way so I could sweep underneath them! Made. me. melt. when you looked up at me and said, "I Help, Momma!" Thanks, Henry :)

You have also blown us away with how great of a BIG brother you are! Porter LOVES it when you talk to him and his eyes are always following you around the room!
Henry, we pray for your salvation daily and can't wait for you to come to know Christ as your own! That is the greatest gift you can receive on earth.
I have always hated the term "Terrible Twos"...praying for another great year with you and may it be terrific!

We Love You bunches!
Happy 2nd Birthday!

3 MONTHS OLD!!

We're in love with your cheeks...
and your smile!

Momma & Porter! I feel SO much better now than I did 3 months ago!...
...and so does Poppa! haha :)

Porter...this week was HUGE! You started sleeping better during your daytime naps and every nap has been great than 1 1/2 hours! I am probably going to jinx myself but I would love to think we've said goodbye to the 45 minute nap monster once and for all!!
(But, I can guarantee it'll be back in a couple weeks when we are home for the holidays!) :)
I'll take it while it lasts.
It's amazing what I have been able to get done while both boys napped at the same time in the afternoon all week!
You are still a super duper happy, laid back baby!

Friday, December 03, 2010

So lately we've been talking alot about sharing and it seems like it has finally 'clicked' with Henry. Lately he's been 'sharing' everything with Porter (more like when he gets caught in the act)!
For example, Henry decides it's okay to get into the pantry and get snacks because when he gets caught he very joyfully exclaims "Share with Porter!" and when he isn't suppose to be into something in the kitchen or family room he runs to Porter and puts it on his lap..."Share with Porter!" and runs away with a BiG smile...Oh me, oh my!

I'm always intrigued when people say kids really don't understand at this age and are too young to know any better! Ha! I beg to differ! Quite the opposite... kids are very intelligent :)
Henry, you keep me on my toes...and I love that about you...most days ;)
