Learning with Henry

I thought I'd do a little update on Henry since I feel like I've been putting alot of updates on here of Porter. This week has been BuSy!! It seems like everyday we've had somewhere to be every morning and every night, leaving just enough time for naptime...which isn't that big of a deal until I relaized it wasn't just any 'ol time...like we needed to be leaving the house by 9am everymorning...umm, we don't usually do that! So, we are all a little tired! The boys usually don't get up until 8 or 8:30 so feedings, getting two little ones dressed and out the door by 9am...wowzers! haha. I know you all reading this with 2+ children are laughing at me but it's still an adjustment with two!
Anyway...
We normally aren't that busy and I still try to take advantage on one on one time around here and so when Porter is down for his morning nap, Henry and I spend a little one on one time and do some fun learning!
Here's a few things we are up to!
BTW, I thought of none of this...thank goodness for blogs...they are great for ideas!!
ABC's...we are getting there. He missed a few letters but for the most part...much improved!!
We still do weekly letters, too!
Henry LOVES the color bath fizzy-things my mom got him for Christmas (and such a hit they showed up in a little package for Valentine's!! I think I might need to get him some for Easter!!) so this was with my icing gels (Instead of food coloring). He LOVED this. I just dipped a stick with the gel color and let HIM put the stick in the cup and stir...he loved that HE got to make the color change and then he told me what color it was!!
Umm...You are looking a little TOO grown up here, Henry!

This was something fun I found on someone elses blog and I'll tell you a little something... On her blog, she has two girls so she did this with cute beads and threw some glitter in. Umm...we had none of that...we have BOYS around here! LOL. So...umm....after searching the hosue...we used Pens caps! LOL :). But, what I did was fill a gallon ziploc with water...drew a line now the middle of the bag. We had fun moving the pen caps over and said, "RIGHT", "LEFT" and counted the three caps, too. It was too easy for him to use his fingers to move them so I grabbed a popsicle stick and that was fun for him to use too.
This kept him Busy!!

Porter's 6 month stats!

This just in...
We have a healthy, thriving Porter!
Yesterday at his six month appt
Weight: 20 lbs 6 ounces (90%)
Length: 26 1/2 inches (57%)

Photo Credit: My friend Tate. Her & her mom were so so sweet to watch the boys for us last friday night. We had big, big plans but by the time it came to Friday, I wasn't feeling too well so we ended up just running somewhere to eat and came right back to get them but while we were gone she had fun playing with P. I haven't got his 6 mo photos taken yet...waiting on a few backgrounds to arrive and then we should be good to go! :)

We are...

...DEBT FREE!!!!!
We were ready to shout it from the rooftops when we made a final college loan payment today but instead called my parents and yelled it into the phone!
:)
We are so so so so excited and of course, humbled!
Our Finances aren't ours anyway...they are God's and we couldn't be more grateful!
I am so thankful for such a great husband who is an awesome leader for our family. There are many times I was ready to forget the idea of being debt free but we continued to trudge along with Kit's leadership and God's grace.
We are thankful!!

{Making the most of what you got!}

So...I am definately NOT the most organized person but boy, we sure try to be...and, I feel like we are getting there...somedays...
Our house is definately not large by any means but we are thankful for it! I'm trying to utilize every inch we have because we have added two little ones since we moved in! :)
So...it all works better when there is a place for everything. It's as simple and as hard, as that!
Anywho...
Kit put this up for me last spring and it's the best little project we could have done! This is right after you walk through our laundry room...this in on the left, the pantry is on the right and the kitchen is the next thing you walk into. Keys, sunglasses, out-going mail, purse, hats, little jackets...all have a place! And, Henry knows it has a place so we can hang his little backpack up, too! It's hidden, too, which I like so visitors don't see and it's convenient as we are walking out the door/ coming back in....

This is what I actually wanted to show. Something we've had that we just weren't utilizing. This barrister was upstairs in our bedroom. Holding books. that we never read. So...we brought it down here. This area is "suppose to be" a eat-in kitchen...ha!! There is just really no room so we always eat in the dining room. Which I love having a dining room so it's not a big deal. Anyway...we brought the barrister down here...I bought some baskets (same ones we use in the toy room) and we each have one. Love. LOVE. LOVE!! Simplest thing ever. BIG help and GREAT change. Since all the bedrooms are upstairs but we LIVE on the mainlevel...it's nice to put burp rags, bibs in Porter's baskets and socks, hats, etc in Henry's baskets.  That saves me many trips upstairs and also doesn't take up my kitchen drawer space. Kit can throw his wallets and papers in his and I keep receipts and journal, etc in mine. We also have a church basket for our studies and lesson plans. It's great. I love it. Wish I would have thought of it sooner!
I think the total cost was: $35 for baskets

68 years!!

68 years my grandparents have been married!
WOW!
Probably almost all of you who read this blog already know but, my Grandma has been in the hospital since Wednesday. She was to be discharged today but it didn't happen. They've delayed it. I know my Grandma just really wants to leave the hospital and go home...
This is the frustrating part about living so far away.
My heart is in Indiana thinking and praying for my Grandma...I just wish it was just as easy to get our bodies there, too!

Us at Christmas with Grandma & Grandpa.

I see so much of my Grandpa in Henry!

Our BiG liTTle Six Month Old!

Oh my goodness...I know I say this all the time but...really?! It's been 6 months?! Porter...I've never known a more content, laid back baby. You have the best personality!! You are calm, content and patient. I guess you have to be since I'm usually very busy chasing after your brother but there are times I "think" I'm feeding you solids and actually my aim is a little off while I am talking to Henry and when I look over at you, you have your mouth wide open...like, "Hey Mom! A little to the left please!!" But you smile and are patient!
You are still super smiley. Me, Poppa, Henry or strangers...you could care less. If someone is smiling at you, you are so polite to smile right back! You still laugh the hardest with your brother.
You are starting to sit up pretty well, still have tumbles here and there but again...you think it's pretty cool and laugh it off.
It's amazing. You and your brother couldn't be more night & day different and I love that about both of you!
You enjoy watching us. Especially at the dinner table. You are quite intrigued. You think Gisele is hilarious and you love going on walks as much as your brother loves to push you on a walk :)
You are still a great sleeper and napper. You wake up happy and just start smiling when your eyes pop open. You are still swaddled! I have tried a couple time lately and you don't feel secure enough yet. You are getting there...You are still a very slow roller-over. You don't care what position we leave you in. You will really only roll over when no one is in the room and you start to get bored....from from front to back and back to front. If anything you are scooting...oh, dear!!
You are starting to be super drooly...but still no sign of teeth.
Next week is your doctors appt and I'm guessing you are somewhere around 21 pounds?!
I pretty much skipped buying anything in 9 mo and starting with 12 months because I'd like for you to wear some things more than once or twice but it's just not quite warm enough to break out Big Brothers summer clothes that he wore...we are getting there, though!! :)
You are really enjoying solids! You think cereal and veggies are fantastic! Fruits are still growing on you...
We love you to pieces! I LOVE that you and Henry are really starting to enjoy each other and it's too cute to see Henry speak for you. "Porter no want cereal...he wants ice cream!" or "Porter wants Apple juice, too!". It's all super sweet and we love you little boys like crazy!!
I can't believe you are a half of a year old....no way!!

I don't want you to grow up too quickly but I love thinking about when you and H can go out in the back yard and play together!! :)

Wordless Wednesday

Look who re-dressed himself!

The other morning I dressed Henry with the blue shirt you see him wearing and black track pants. After naptime, he went back upstairs to play in his room for a bit...this is what he came downstairs wearing when I called him for supper...notice the hat he put on himself, too! ;)

Tunnel Play.

Henry LOVES tunnels.
He is quick to point out to you what makes a tunnel....he plays with the empty paper towel rolls and pushes his cars through..."look momma...tunnel!" He loves the empty wrapping paper rolls too, pushes things under the couch, ottoman...TUNNEL...TUNNEL!! So...after running a couple errands, playing outside and right after lunch...we had some time to kill before nap time. I got a few blankets out and we covered half the dining room table. H's eyes lit up! TUNNEL!! Before long, all his cars, tractors & trash trucks were under there too. But one thing was missing...his momma. I'm enjoying the fact that right now I am still really cool in his eyes and he picked me to play with him and wanted me to take our picture together. Thanks, H!
So here is a picture of us to document a sweet moment...playing under the dining room table :)

Weekend Recap and Random Phone Pics

My goodness! We had SUCH a fun weekend! We started Friday with Family Night at Chic Fil A and used coupons we got from Mamaw {Thank you, Mamaw!!} for free ice dreams :) then H played in the play place and we left with a balloon...Henry was over the moon with excitement...Saturday we ran errands, I worked on a little project {that I'll have to take a pic of sometime!!}, grilled out and took the boys on a nice long walk in their red wagon {Thanks again, Granny!!}
Sunday we had the privilege of filling in for another couple who was out of town and taught the 11th grade Sunday school hour. Two things: 1. It was super fun 2. We felt really old! LOL :). Then after church it was home, lunch & naps for the boys...{all the boys...;)} while I anticipated "The call" to find out whether we were going to have a nephew or a niece coming in July!! It's a BOY!! Rutledge James...super cute. Henry says "wutwidge"...it's adorable... :)
Then, I ran to Publix and got a Chocolate Cream Pie because my friend Jessica came over to watch the Amazing Race {It started last night!!} and we just had to have something yummy to eat and i didn't have time to make anything. We had alot of fun...she's never watched the show before and it's probably the one reality show Kit and I really enjoy! We ended up talking WAY too late..*yawn* and before I knew it Monday was here. :)
This morning was different for us because usually we don't go anywhere on Mondays but today we went to the church for a birthday party...it was so cute...Dr. Seuss theme...Brandy, the mom, is very talented when it comes to party stuff...it was a hit! They had "spin art" as one of the favors where a wheel spins the paper and the kids got to pick what colors they wanted to pour in..ya'll know what I am talking about...right? Henry stood there for the entire 2 hours we were there watching. He did his art and then stood beside Mr. Donovan and just watched in amazement{again, I'll have to post a picture}...made a HUGE impression on him!
I'll close with lots of random pics that are off of Kit's phone...my boys are growing up!

Right after we got the phone...maybe in August?!
I remember this for sure...the Friday before Porter was born. I was having cx in Steak 'N Shake...not so fun.

Right after Porter was born....I think maybe 9 days old...we ran to the outlets with mom...

Doesn't get much cuter than this, folks!

Stealin' a smooch

Yes, there is a Henry in there...can you find him?! ;)

Shopping at the Ravens Roost. I still think about this bench....alot.
But, no room to bring it back with us:(
