HaPPy HaPPy BiRtHdAy to...

Mallory (11) and Kaitlyn (1)
and
...our son, Henry Wade!

A whole year. That went fast! I'm not a very good writer but wanted to document a few thoughts for such a special occassion....

Henry, we've had such a fun year of surprises with you. We will never forget what relief we felt when we heard your first cry and what joy overcame us to learn you were a BOY! We our so thankful to God as having a child is our sweetest blessing. We are so thankful for your calm, laid back nature and enjoy watching you observe first before you make your move. You have become an excellent sleeper, a great eater , a lover of books and a little cuddler. You are so sweet and pass out kisses right and left. You have brought us our deepest frustration at times but our most happiness, too!

We are so thankful for this year God gave us with you, and pray there are many, many, many, many, more! We can't wait to watch you further develop in your language and tell us what you are thinking and of course, waiting for that day you accept Christ as your Savior!

While your birthday can be at one of the busiest times of the year, you are a true gift that can't be purchased, packaged or wrapped.

We Love, Love, Love you Henry with all our hearts and are so blessed to call you ours!

Take a look below to see a year in pictures....what a change!

Henry & His Poppa
The BIG one year old!!

Tonight we are going to celebrate with Henry by going out to eat. Not a big thing, but something we rarely seem to do anymore. We've invited a cute lil' family to join us for supper and then back to our place for the cake fun...cause what fun would that be to watch by ourselves?? :). Stay tuned for more pictures of him eating cake and then we are having a playdate party on Thursday!

One.Cool.Dude.

Saturday night we thought we would be adventurous and head 45 minutes south to a ranch where supposedly they had an awesome light display! Both of us were thinking of the Rossville farm and thought Henry would LOVE it since he is so into lights. We got Henry's jams on and thought we'd be fun letting him stay up later than normal and enjoying some Christmas cheer. BIG. DISAPPOINTMENT. HA! It was hysterically funny that this was suppose to be impressive. We enjoyed ourselves and a stop for ice cream always makes it better!!

Henry was prepared for A LOT OF LIGHTS!! haha :)

The Coolest thing we saw...the lighted wagon

Stay tuned tomorrow for Henry's ONE YEAR POST!!!

Thanks for the Christmas Jams, Granny!

After I cut the top, he opened it all by himself!
Thanks Granny for the entertainment!
The envelope the jams came in kept him busy for a good 20 minutes :)

All clean with his new jams! They fit great :0)
THANKS!!

First Shiner before his First Birthday...

Today we had Henry's one year pictures and some family pictures taken. The last place we took pictures at was on some railroad tracks and poor Henry fell onto some rocks. It sure puffed up quickly! I'm sure he'll have a story to tell everyone at church tomorrow :(.

I think it's time for a haircut...

Cute shirt, where'd you get it?

Proud to say I MADE THAT! Well, not the shirt but the brown circle and letter "h" ;)

Highly Recommended by Henry

A good friend of ours turned us onto these toasted Wheat Thins and they have become Henry's new go-to snack!
Try 'em, you'll love 'em!!!

Henry's first trip to Pizza King

We LOVE Pizza King!! (YES! Better than Arni's!!) When we were first married and lived in town, we went to Pizza King every Thursday night for dinner. I haven't had Pizza King for at least a year and we never have time to squeeeze a trip in so, we made sure this time I got my macho nachos!! :). The FUNNIEST thing happened when we were there. Of course, the place is always ran by teenagers and we've had some other funny moments there, too. One time when we asked for our pizza three-quarters done, there was a moment of silence followed by, "you only want us to bring out 3/4 of your pizza??" LOL. Anywho, the teenager was bringing out our drinks and nachos and Henry wouldn't stop staring up at him. So, I touched Henry's arm and asked him in a polite voice, "Can you say HI?". Of course, the worker didn't look up and just heard me ask the question and in all honestly, I didn't say Henry's name in front of the question so...... It was quiet for a few seconds and then the teenager looked at Henry and said, "HHHHIIIII" in a terrified voice. LOL!!!

good times

:)

Thanks Aurora!

So, my sister came to the rescue and here are a few of Thanksgiving, from my side of the family. Of course, it wouldn't be thanksgiving without some opening of presents since there are LOTS of November/December birthdays!! Henry LOVES Rob. It must be the Oldest Cousin/Youngest Cousin bond or something. He was the only one he would consistenly give kisses to! :)

H loved Grandma Helen's lighted snowman present!

too cute! What a sneeeeze! :)

"Where are my first Thanksgiving pictures, mom?"

"Well, Henry, I really enjoyed spending time with family and forgot to take any!" haha :). I see that conversation coming sometime in the future. It's true, I had a lot of fun and it was nice to be with everyone, I really didn't even think about it! Not that these are very "thanksgiving-ey" but here are the two pictures Kit took of Henry reading with his Mamaw & Papaw.

A little clip to enjoy!

We made it back...whew! TRAFFIC....TRAFFIC......It was a whirlwind trip. We really enjoyed spending alot of time with family over Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I hardly took any pictures. Actually, I don't think I took ANY but Kit might have snapped a couple. (Amy & Kenlyn- do YOU have any from thanksgiving??). Anywho, I'll get back to updating sometime and probably doing multiple back posts later this week but for this afternoon I thought you might like a clip from our interstate travels yesterday. This was about 6 hours into the drive and I just moved from sitting up front to riding in the back with H. What a Happy Henry!! I'll admit, he had a much better attitude about the drive than I did!! Thanks Henry, we are so proud of your car riding attitude!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Psalm 136:1
"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His love endures forever."
Give Thanks

~Henry Smith~

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son
And now, let the weak say "I am Strong"
Let the poor say "I am rich"
Because of what the Lord has done
Give thanks

Happy Birthday, KRC!!

Happy Birthday to my amazing husband, today! Words can't express how much I am forever grateful that YOU are my husband :). This year has been so exciting to watch you as a father and a hands on one, at that!
I LOVE YOU!
Thanks for taking such good care of us,
~Grace

I just broke my own rule...

...I have never decorated before Thanksgiving and have always believed it's an "unspoken rule" that you aren't suppose to (and I LOVE to follow rules!!) haha. BUT, after thinking it over and realizing how busy this next month is for us and that we are returning back to Indiana twice in four weeks, my birthday, Henry's birthday & other activities....yikes! It'll be the New Year before we know it! So, I decided today was as good of a time as any!
After talking it over while staring at all my boxes of Christmas decor, we both decided to go low key on the tree since 1.) Henry is into everything 2.) We won't even be at our house for Christmas.
I already miss my pumpkins... The Mantle ( I know, Henry really needs a stocking!!)
Little Tree & Snowman in the upstairs hallway
I sure do love me some pinecones!
