Good Times.

Last week was very enjoyable! We had birthdays to celebrate at work and with family, family from out of town to visit with and beautiful weather. My sister came into town with her family and we were able to celebrate Erika's birthday since it will be on the 13th and they will be back home and then shortly afterward, leave for their family vacation.
We also were able to celebrate my Granny's 80th birthday!! It was neat to visit with family, (Yeah! Sean flew in from Texas) and see Granny with all her friends. There is a picture of Sean and me holding a plant. The story is that Christmas 2005 we both gave my Granny an Amaryllis plant. I bought the cheap version from where else but Target and my cousin presented my Granny with a gorgeous red pot. The funny part is mine has bloomed twice and Sean's never has! All it ever does is get those gigantic leaves on it :).
At my parent's barn were 7 little kittens which kept the kids very entertained and also Grover very curious :).
Oh yeah, and Kit was able to go to the Good Guy's car show in Indy with my Dad, nephew, cousin and meet up with my brother. He had a lot of fun and I wish I could show you his raccoon eyes!

Explanation

Alright, alright I guess I need to do a little explaining with the pillow post. NO, we did not get new furniture...yet! Last Saturday we spent the day in Indy going from store to store and came up with ONE (that's right, only ONE) couch that we could agree on. But not only did we just "like" it, we completely fell in love head-over-heels with the style, feel, look, fabric...you name it we were sold!!! So, we got all the necessary information, headed back to Lafayette and pulled into our local Kittles. We asked the salesman if we could order two couches in the style and we were so proud of ourselves, we had the SKU # ready, the fabric name, the fabric color name, the matching pillow name, etc. The salesman was SO excited for he also saw "SALE!" in his near future until..... DA DA DUM...... it seems as though the couch is NO longer available, the manufacturer dropped the couch so we could only buy what is on the floor and in limited quantities. Mind you want is on the floor is a hunter green, I wanted "Doe".
So, with our heads hanging low, we walked out of the store, no deal, no sale and virtually back to square one.
So, we proceeded to hit all our furniture stores in Lafayette for one last attempt "find" what we were looking for. We came upon one couch. Hence, the pillow picture from below. It's similar in style, similar in fabric, etc and for a better price. It seemed to be a little darker than what I wanted but upon bringing the sample home, I do think it will work.
I wanted to e-mail the picture to my sister for opinion and my e-mail wasn't working so I thought I would "post" it and delete it later. Only I forgot!
But of course, when you are ready to make a large purchase of living room and family room furniture, new rugs, etc. then your VW beetle will start giving you fits. It is rather "sick" (lights, dash, fan, etc.) so it's going to the doctor tomorrow. Therefore, the furniture has been put on hold until we find out the damages!

I'm Alive!

Well, I survived my wisdom teeth extraction but I am not out of the woods yet! Friday was interesting as I think back I was under local IV sedation, not general, so I was able to hear them talk to me as they took my wisdom teeth out but I did not feel any pain or novacaine shots. I don't remember being wheeled to the Explorer but I do remember Kit telling me we were at Target! (haha, probably b/c I love it so much my eyes perked up). Kit picked up my Pain Medication and Antibiotic and we were well, back home...I don't remember any of the drive!

I remember I made it to the couch with my mouth almost all numb, my tongue was started to come out of it, and my face was full was having lots of gauze were my wisdom teeth once were.
So, my husband force fed me some jell-o and gave me some pain medication. Then, I remember him waking me up all the time to switch my gauze and since I had kept down a 1/2 tab of the pain med(Percocet may I inform you) to take another. I got sick oh, once, twice, too many too count. This lasted all throughout the day. The evening was ok, and Saturday I immediately started to feel better. Thinking to myself, I was going to a Memorial day get together and work would NOT be a problem on Tuesday.

Then Sunday, I was in a little more pain and held it together as our dear friends Chris & Sarah came with new little Anne Marie. Then, I couldn't take the pain any longer, so Kit pulled out some Darvocet...not that I get sick from it just loopy and fall asleep. I don't remember much of Sunday except the awful nighttime to which I could have sworn something was going wrong.

Monday morning Kit called the oral surgery office to see what we could do. We got the answering service but the technician immediately returned our call. I went in at 12 00 to find I had a dry socket which means none or possibly a small blood clot which is suppose to form was no longer there, exposing bone and nerves, therefore the intense pain. They then rinse my mouth with peroxide. (which I found out turns your tongue white) Then, stuffed the socket with an oddly looking tabacco like substance. So, there you have it folks, not to mention the swelling in my cheeks which I know is normal, Hey! at least I didn't bruise!!

See what a little rain does?

"Under the Knife"

Well, tomorrow morning is the big day! I get my widsom teeth out! I asked Kit to take a picture with me to post on here for the last post I'll probably have for a while and he took it upon himself to do a "senior" portrait of me. Finally, I was able to get a quick snapshot. I would appreciate everyone's prayers for tomorrow and for a quick recovery. I hope everyone has a great Memorial day weekend!

We got Sprouts

YEAH! We see green! We have really been enjoying our time outdoors at our new house. Along with landscaping we also started a garden. We decided to start out small this year and just do half of the pre-existing garden. We have planted tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, sweet corn and canteloupe!

Landscape

As much as we have worked on the inside of our house, we've taken advantage of the nice weather and tried to make some improvement to the outside! There are all kinds of before and afters below. I know some of the plants look "dead" but they were almost all free since they were transplants and since our labor was free it made it a cheap way to change curb appeal. Also, i've started a garden, cross your fingers folks!! ;)

I thought these pots turned out cute

We took out a lot of stuff!

After, not much changes; same as below

After
Digging up rock is no fun stuff at all so all we have is Kit digging up the bushes and the after shot. We pretty much got frustrated and haven't got back to it...yet :) (I can't stand unfinished projects!!)

Septic Problems: Resolved

Well, it took a full week of hit and miss...working on it and giving up, but the septic tank issues have been fixed! We had originally noticed a back up around the clean out at the back of the house and so Kit dug a hole there. (That would be Numero Uno!) then we called someone to come pump the Septic Tank out thinking that would be an easy fix. They came, problem still not fixed. Kit called my Dad who brought out a Septic snake to feed down the line and hopefully remove the blockage. Snake went down, blockage and rush of water sound came out! YEAH! Oh no, Problem Number Two! Hence: Hole number two. The septic snake would not come back out! Ok, my dad recommended waiting a night, running fresh water the next day and hopefully there would be no problems! Well, no such luck. Next thing I know, I am out there with my ear next to the ground trying to locate where this snake is stuck at! Did I mention it was misting that evening? You will notice on the bottom picture the hole is long and narrow. He thought he had the pipe but discovered a rather large rock. The Lord must have wanted to teach us patience b/c it wasn't until three days later Kit found out he did guess right and the pipe WAS below the rock!
On Saturday, Kit was determined to bring closure to this project and as well as our neighbors who had made mentioned of watching our poor efforts from a distance and were SO generous as to step in and give Kit a hand! They were all determind the snake was stuck in the middle of the pipe and dug what?! Hole number THREE....this time a splice was made into the pipe only to find the snake was running past the cut of the pipe. Then quickly came hole number FOUR and the intersection of the Septic Tank...you guys guess it...it was caught on the opening of the tank! So really, no harm done, Kit was able to get some sun, spend a Saturday putting sweat equity into our new house and we spent quality time filling in FOUR holes in our backyard...our poor backyard :)

Looks who's in the Driver Seat!

This was too cute tonight when we were sweeping out and washing vehicles. I looked over and well, pictures tell all! :) Oh yeah, Kit threw the seat belt on for a little "extra" effect ;)
