So, I wasn't even planning on posting this yet...still playing catch up with the house and tomorrow we are having friends over to play but Kit is up working late so I thought I'd join him on the couch. Thankfully, I seem to have finally gained that 2nd trimester energy and am not falling asleep by 8 every night!
We enjoyed making Henry's birthday special. Although we are having a little party with family during Christmas, we wanted to make his actual birthday a lot of fun too!
I had seen an idea where you fill your child's room with balloons while they are sleeping so they wake up to balloons on their birthday. So sweet! Well, Thursday evening before his birthday, I put the boys to bed and spent some {a lot} of time blowing up balloons. Kit was at church doing sound for the Christmas play rehearsal so he got home in time to help me finish the last few up. I think there were 25. How fun, right? Well, right before Kit got home one balloon popped....it seriously was so much louder than what balloons normally sound like. And, it was just on the floor, nothing around it. Thinking that was odd, I mentioned it to Kit and we just shrugged it off. The 'old folks' that we are, totally fell asleep on the couch that night talking through our day...I know, so sad! ha! Then, at 11:30, we woke up to a loud...BOOM!!!! another balloon pops, for no reason. We laughed so hard and decided not to put them in Henry's room because two in one night was a little weird. THANK GOODNESS we didn't because two more went off in the middle of the night and one early morning. I have no idea what was up with these balloons. ha! We noticed too that it was only the blue and green ones. Odd?!
So needless to say, we just surprised Henry with throwing balloons in his room when we went to get him in the morning. SO glad we didn't put them in there...can you imagine the sheer terror he would have felt with a gun shot sound in his room? Oh goodness.
Unsure of what is going on
warming up to the idea :)
Then sweet P woke up. How about that bed head?
When we came downstairs, H said he didn't feel good and just laid around for a bit. Still not sure what was up but we let him open up presents. Here he is opening up P's present to him...a clock :) Henry is always obsessed with time. "What time is it?" Is it 1:30p (nap time) or 8:30 (bed time) or 8:00 (Get up time). So, we are hoping the clock will help him :).
And then he got to open THE BIG ONE. The one present he's been asking about and talking about for months. All he says he wants is a combine. He's become obsessed with them since he got to see them up close and personal in front of my parents house when we visited in October. He was beyond excited when we opened it up! :)
He perked up and we all got dressed and ready to head to Bass Pro Shop. A favorite among the boys :). The fish were a big hit (I need to get pics off my phone!!) and a good time was had by all!
After Bass Pro Shop, H said he wanted Pizza. We couldn't find much in the area except a small, small restaurant called The Red Brick Oven. The owner went above and beyond for us as we were his only customers nearly the whole time. It was a little awkward, but the pizza really was delicious and he even made up some yummy breadsticks that were not on the menu since that's all Henry said he wanted.
And, we did go to the carwash as our last "fun" thing of the day! ;). That's all Henry had said he wanted. A combine and go to the carwash...for months. So, we made it happen! And hey, got a clean vehicle out of it too! haha :). This was Porter's first time at the carwash and he wasn't so sure about it!
Our evening was a little crazy busy with Kit needing to be at church for the program and we also had a Christmas party. Long story short, I kept the babysitter and decided I need to get Christmas shopping done. I was not wanting to attend a Christmas party by myself! ha!
We enjoyed FaceTime with my sister and her family and as you can tell from the previous post, Henry got a camera. Thanks, Warrix Family! :)
I need to do another post with cake pictures and bass pro shop but I'm about to crash. My bed is calling...night! :)
