Thank You, Pinterest!

I just love Pinterest! I found this idea on making a gift card snow globe and knew Henry would just love the project.  I bought all my stuff at Hobby Lobby and it's crazy their Christmas stuff is already 50% off so it comes to just $4/each for these plus the gift cards. We just made one of these today but have 4 more to make for teachers but trust me, there was enough glitter on my floor for today. :)

Hot glued the gift card standing up plus a couple ornaments on the bottom of the lid.
Filled the jar with water and
let H add in some glitter. I think I did this backwards. Next time we'll fill glitter on the bottom of the jar then add water.
Put a couple more ornaments to "float" and secure the lid tight. Add some ribbon and it's done! A little snow globe gift card made by a preschooler :)
Very proud that "I made it all by myself"

Henry Humor & Porter Persistence

Henry seems to think a "birthday party" should be whatever you are getting for your birthday present so all Henry wants is a "combine" party. Which means...all he wants is a combine toy ;)
So, when my birthday was coming up I asked him if he was going to decorate for my party! I thought he'd say something like, "you want a tractor party too?" or "how about a pink tractor party?" Instead he said, "you are having a pink jacket party!!" (which totally gave away the present). niiice. I should win an award for still acting surprised! ;)

A toaster is called a "French Toaster" by Henry (He loves French Toast)

The other night I asked Henry if he wanted some cheese and he said, "Not that kind, it too sparkly." He's had a lot of fun decorating for Christmas :)

Henry still leads us in team cheers and it just cracks us up. He's a good inspirational coach. "Come on Cadwallader!"  "Go Team Cadwallader!" "You can do it!" "Porter, let's get this done!" and so on. It's cute :)

Oh my goodness, so one night, dinner wasn't going over very well with me (pregnancy) and Henry (who isn't suppose to leave the table unless excused) pulled his chair out, got down and started walking around the table. Kit asked him what he was doing and he just looked at him and said, "I'm giving momma a kiss, she doesn't feel good." so sweet. made my heart melt.

Porter loves transferring objects, dumping objects and tearing into objects. Pretty much, whatever Porter is allowed to play with doesn't interest him. It's only the things that he's not allowed to play with that is truly fun for him.
For example... The Trash can.
1.) One day I pulled out nine pairs of shoes from the trash can. Porter must have had the most fun putting one shoe in at a time. Where was I? Getting sick.
2.) This one just made me laugh out loud. It was a big laundry day at our house and I had all the laundry in nice piles waiting to go in the washer. It was midday and I had one more load left to put in. Henry called for me in the bathroom and when I came back out the laundry pile was gone. All that remained was one little white sock. I almost thought I had lost my mind until I looked at P, who flashed a smile. Of course...a whole load of laundry in the trash can....POOORRRTTTEERRRRRR!!!!

I used to do all the laundry and have it all put away by the days end. Lately, that hasn't been happening. I'm good to get it washed, folded and upstairs so the next morning I can get it all put away. One week I was upstairs making my bed only to walk to the hallway and see that Porter had taken his clean, folded laundry and item by item thrown it over the banister to fall downstairs into our family room. Thanks Porter but we only throw over dirty laundry...not clean that I get to refold and bring back upstairs :).

We Love You little boys and you sure do keep life interesting around here :).

Christmas Parade 2011

We enjoyed the evening at the McDonough square watching the Christmas Parade.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

So, look out for posting to start picking up...we finally get a new computer. Hallelujah!! Our other one was a dinosaur and it took for.ever. to post to the blog so it's been a chore for the past couple of months so that's why many days I didn't even want to spend the time to only get frustrated.
It's so nice to be able to post in a timely fashion again so posting should pick back up...if anyone reads this little blog at all :).

The tree is not quite finished yet!

1st Annual Cadwallader Christmas Tree Hunt

We experienced a first for all of us this morning, going to a tree farm to pick out our Christmas tree :).
We searched and searched and practically walked the whole farm to find our first real tree. The boys were mesmerized the whole time. They were taking it all in, hence the lack of smiles. Henry had a 1,000 questions and Porter seems as though he maybe having some discomfort for the first time since his surgery. It was good to get out and have a change of scenery, although I can definitely tell he doesn't quite feel like himself.
Henry enjoyed running from tree to tree and was most curious about the hand saw they handed us upon arrival.

15.

{Tubes & Adenoids}.

Thank you so much for your prayers. It's all over :). They placed tubes in both ears and said he had very, very large adenoids that were blocking at about 90%. Hopefully that will help with drainage in the future. Porter was a little social bug this morning and did great except for about the last 15 minutes of waiting. He finally fell asleep on me only to get woke up to be put right back to sleep. I walked him back to the operating room and stayed with him until he went to sleep.

P is a little fighter. Most people just see that he is such a smiley little laid back guy, which he is...until you push his buttons :). He's fiery, feisty and passionate and loud. I guess P gave the nurses in recovery a run for their money and woke up furious trying to rip out his IV. His oxygen levels were perfect in recovery and I enjoyed holding him in the rocker...BUT, he'd get so mad when the nurses would walk in the room that he'd start holding his breath and screaming because he was so MAD. After a few times of that, they went ahead and discharged us. It was clear he wasn't going to settle down. He just wanted to be back home and in his environment. The hour drive home was uneventful and when we finally got home he drank and ate really well and took a nice long nap. He's up and running with his brother but still has a few moments where he wants to be held and then gets right back down to play. Praying for an uneventful night and continued easy recovery.
Thanks for the prayers and enjoy a couple of pictures. He was the cutest little patient in his gown :)

Let's play a little {catch up}.

Well, now that we've announced I thought I'd catch us up to date on my weekly picture. Thank you all for the congrats, it means a lot to our little family and we appreciate the support! This pregnancy took a little time to process because, yes, this was a complete SURPRISE. A while back we had agreed to not even mention the word 'baby', and see how we felt about even adding a third, until Porter was 2 (sept 2012). So, we were in COMPLETE shock when we found out we were expecting again. A few days after finding out and honestly, still trying to process it all, I found THIS VIDEO.  Wow. Powerful. Emotional. It was very much a "Yes, God, I'm listening". So, I agreed to not complain again. And, boy, how I've had to prove that. This little baby has made me more sick than my other two pregnancies combined. Morning. Noon. Night and sometimes in the middle of the night.
But, we know that God gives such good gifts...this is truly a gift we didn't even ask for and we can't wait to meet this little one in May!
We would appreciate your prayers, this baby is due right before Porter turns 21 months (the exact same spacing as H to P). That's 3 kids in just under 3 1/2 years. Wow. Every now and then I wonder how we'll manage but I know God wouldn't have given us this blessing if He didn't think we could handle it. I'm sure it'll be hard but He'll get us through. He always has...

And, we appreciate your prayers for Porter's surgery this Thursday, the 1st.
Have a great week!!

Sharing our {SeCrEt}...

Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed a nice, low key Thanksgiving here at home. While we missed being with everyone and seeing family, we greatly enjoyed starting some traditions with our own little family. I made all the fixins for the meal and instead of doing turkey...we chose steak. Yummy! Porter loved ALL the food and I think Henry's favorite was the sparkling grape juice! :). Hoping you and yours had a great Thanksgiving too!!

Porter greatly enjoyed his thanksgiving meal.
