Sharing our {SeCrEt}...

Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed a nice, low key Thanksgiving here at home. While we missed being with everyone and seeing family, we greatly enjoyed starting some traditions with our own little family. I made all the fixins for the meal and instead of doing turkey...we chose steak. Yummy! Porter loved ALL the food and I think Henry's favorite was the sparkling grape juice! :). Hoping you and yours had a great Thanksgiving too!!

His birthday.

Today is someone's birthday. And to Henry's confusion...no, it's not his. We've been talking about birthdays around here since we were planning Porter's and Henry can. not. wait to turn 3!!! But, I had to inform him we'd be having a little party and around the dinner table tonight and no, it wasn't his...yet. I didn't even have to heart to tell him that I have one before him too. Poor dude. He's the very last in our family...having to wait until December! ;) But, the promise of happy cake worked like a charm and he's SO excited! :)

But today, we celebrate Kit's birthday!! I'll post more pictures tomorrow after we have our dinner tonight.

Kit, we love you SO much and our so thankful for you!! You work very hard to provide for
us and we are so blessed to call you mine ( and ours!) ! You take great care of me and the boys and we can't wait to celebrate you tonight!!

Sneak Peeks

Well, here are some sneak peeks of family pictures from Saturday :)....
Enjoy!!

Yes, I got my hair highlighted and yes, I love it! ;)
Thanks, Allysha!! :)

Henry Humor

Last night there was no evening service in honor of Veteran's Day so we had dinner with our neighbors. We had told Henry we were going to eat supper with some friends and while he ran out the the Explorer we explained it was only a short ride in the wagon (we ate with some neighbors!) but riding in a wagon to someones house really perplexed him. This morning when trying to get everyone moving I said, "alright boys, let's get loaded up!" Henry looked at me and said "in the wagon or the ex-splo-rer (explore)". I really think he thought the wagon was our new mode of transportation!! ha!

Oh Boys

I thought you both looked so handsome before church yesterday...
and we had a few minutes to spare before leaving.
 Someday
maybe you'll look at the camera and smile
without tears in your eyes.
Someday.

Henry makes Chicken Tortilla Soup

He made it ALL tonight!!
(once you see the recipe you'll know why! Super easy! ;)

1 lg can chicken broth
2 cans cr of chicken soup
1 can cr mushroom soup
2 cans rotel (whatever spice level your family likes)
1 sm can green chilies (omit if kids don't like too much spice)
2 c diced cooked chicken

Combine all ingredients and simmer until all the soup are diluted.

Serve with shredded cheese and tortilla chips (we like sour cream too!). Yummy.

Porter is our eater. Henry, not so much! I've learned if he helps make it and takes "ownership" of a recipe, he's so proud he eats ALOT of it. So...he's in the kitchen alot with me! ;)

Porter & The ENT

This morning I got up, got dressed, woke both boys up early, ate breakfast in the car and headed out the door for Porter's consult with the ENT. I dropped Henry off at Tate's to play with Zoe (God Bless you, Tate!) and Porter and I drove about an hour for the appointment.
Porter was beside himself at the office. What to do without big brother... Flirt with all the ladies, of course! He was blowing kisses and batting his eyes... he got stickers and lollipops before we had even been checked in! ha!

I am SO thankful that Henry was able to play today because even though Henry is usually excellent at appts (especially since they aren't for him) we saw so many people and went in so many rooms that it was nice to just keep track of one at the office :) Plus...perspective. One seemed SOOOOO easy!! haha :)

We met primarily with the ENT, his Physician Assistant and an Audiologist. We did everything from consult, preop workup and lots of hearing tests.
Basically, we all agreed we have tried to so much with antibiotics to get Porter better but it's not working and he's not getting better. His quality of life is pretty miserable and honestly, he's such a trooper because his Right ear is really bad...they aren't even sure how he is napping and sleeping at night. Plus, his nose is a constant. faucet. constantly. It's crazy. and frustrating. So, we went ahead and scheduled surgery for Dec.1 and at that time there is a possibility of removing some of his adenoids too because the ENT really thinks with how "snorty" he is plus with all his open mouth breathing and with how congested he ALWAYS sounds, they think the adenoids might also be playing a big part in all of this.
All I know is I sure do love this little man and just want him well. We have gone back to the doctor every 10 days since September 1st and ran through a list of meds that he has either not tolerated well, gotten a horrible diaper rash from, broken out in a rash due to medication allergies, been put on steroids, off steroids, added antihistamines, breathing treatments, ear drops, nasal sprays, humidifiers...you name it, we've tried it.
But I have to say, i'm a little scared because this little boy is ORNERY!!! I mean, sneaky, gets in to everything, everywhere and totally cute...a dangerous combination!! So, when he does get to feeling 110%...look out!!! haha!

Full week!

I don't know about you but we are excited to see Friday around here!! Wow. It's been a busy, full week so I haven't had much time for blogging. We've had full days with Kit and I having something at night all week.  It seems like once a month we have a full, full, full week and this has been it! I'm lacking on pictures but here are a few from the camera and phone.
Also, if you can pray for Porter we would appreciate it! After dealing with double ear infections since September 1st, we all feel as though we've given it our best shot with all sorts of treatments, medications and such but we have an ENT appt on Monday to discuss tubes.
This week has been quite the shift in weather. We've gone from t-shirts and shorts to sweaters and long pants and everywhere in between. Another reason P just can't get those ears clear!
I mean, have you seen a happier baby even while he has all this going on? I think not! :) Porter just loves his accessories. Hats, shoes, socks, coats. He is ALL about them! Especially shoes...
One morning this week we stayed in our PJs all morning since we didn't have to go anywhere until the afternoon and Henry and I always enjoy doing some learning together during P's morning nap. This particular morning he surprised me when he spelled his name out with the blocks! :)
These two are becoming really good buddies and enjoying playing "cowboys" for quite a while one day! :)

Looking forward to a nice weekend all being together and we are getting our family Christmas card picture taken this weekend! yay! :)

We headed out to the {fall festival} tonight...

With our little zoo crew!
Henry was a Zoo Keeper and proud of it!
He'd tell everyone, "I'm a ZOO KEEPER!!!" . There were lots of different activities and games to earn a piece of candy. But, in typical Henry fashion, he seemed to have a little bit of anxiety when all eyes were on him to step up to the plate and do the game. It's like a major deer in the headlights. clam up. stress out. Poor dude.
He also took his job of keeping Zebra, a.k.a. little bro in line very seriously.
:)
