Quick Visit with memaw & pepaw

My parents were in town for a few days and as always, it goes by WAY TOO FAST! It seemed like we were on the go the whole time they were here but we all had alot of fun! We spent several hours in different antique stores, went to the zoo, did a little more antiquing, went to a helicopter easter egg  drop (Henry was super impressed!!), colored eggs, made some cupcakes, organized my candlewick, hit the outlets and shopped a few more antiques! ;)
I figured I'd blog now while I have the chance...next week is looking busy so here ya go. I feel so bad that I didn't take any pictures of our visit with Mamaw & Aunt Shana a couple weeks ago but goodness...time just flies with visitors and I enjoy the company...I forget about pulling out the camera!!
Friday we all went to the zoo!
This elephant was putting on a show!
Waiting on the helicopter to drop some eggs!
The 4 of us! It's rare to have a picture all together...especially without using the timer on the camera! :)
We did a little egg hunt in the backyard for Henry...he had a blast!
Look at both those looks...we are in trouble!
Never thought I'd see the day my dad would feed a baby a bottle. I think Porter has him wrapped around his finger! Those two had some good times together!
Zonked out Porter with Memaw...he sure loves his memaw!!
 Coloring eggs...very intense! :)
Henry is definately going to do something meticulous for a career when he gets older. He had the most fun opening eggs, sorting candy and money and lining the eggs back up. Kept him busy!!

Easter 2011 & Porter is 33 weeks!

Happy 1st Easter, Porter!

Mr. Henry was NOT cooperating so this is the best I got

attempt at the two of them...
Look back at last year...what a difference another year makes!
The only family picture we got this morning...

We haven't even made it to Easter buckets yet...hopefully after naptime!

He said, She said & The All-Holiday bucket

This is funny. It's all about perspective, I suppose...
A couple at church is due with baby #2 and asked Kit and I from 1 (easy) to 10 (hard), what's it like having two kids.
I said....a solid 6. Not impossible, a little challenging at times but, definitely rewarding.
Kit said...3! Nothing to it.
Hmmm :)
This just made me laugh so hard because the other night he volunteered to take Porter with him (he is great like that!) to go pick up some dinner because we'd been working outside all afternoon. He looked at me very seriously and said..."Do you think I could just leave Porter in the car while I run in to get food?"
Me: "Ummm..no. That's not an option. He must be with you at all times."
Him: "Well, I'm just trying to figure out how I am going to hold both the food and Porter."
:)

I love the little buckets that are personalized for Easter but it hit me...why not make them so they are usable for more than just Easter? That's how these came about...I went to good 'ole Tractor Supply and bought galvanized buckets. Then, I ordered vinyl lettering for the names and bought ribbon to make them more "eastery". You'll be seeing these on blogs from here on out. I plan on using these to wrap their birthday presents in, Their stockings for Christmas and any other time we choose to do a little something for them. That's why I just did black lettering so they are versatile throughout the year and hope this will be a tradition that sticks for many years!! I'll just use fun tissue paper or add like .50 ribbon for the holiday!
Total I have less than $10 in these...

And, the Easter Bunny went really practical this year. :)
Besides their outfits, it's mostly stuff for our upcoming trip to San Antonio. Swimming trunks, sunscreen, etc :).

I also realize I've missed Porter's weekly picture and Henry's monthly one. Oh well, we've been busy with life so we'll just pick up where we left off! :)

Popping in...

So it's been a while since I've posted! We had some visitors come stay with us and Kit has been out of town so all of that means no blogging along with the fact that my DSLR is...well....dead :(. I think it's official. I'd been tinkering on it before our guests came. Well, this morning I pulled it out again and began tinkering, looking at manuals, googling and well...it's done :(. So...I had some CUTE pictures that I'm just trying to at least get off the camera without much luck. So...it'll probably still be a few days before I make any more posts. I guess I'll have to dig out my old point and shoot until we decide what we want to do. Big. Bummer!!

Happy 7 months, Porter!! {Easter Sneak Peek too!}

We sure do love you, babychild! You are the happiest baby! Well, except for this past week. You are fighting a cold and I think maybe some teeth...? But still, you are easily consolable...just need a little more attention. You are not a fruit lover...you love your veggies!! :)
 You are a great sleeper.
You adore your brother and we adore you!
You wear mostly 9-12 month things depending one pieces vs two.
You are sitting up well and enjoy putting anything you can in your mouth!

Love you Porter!

Entry Way {Before & After}

So...those who know me really well know i've been looking for a piece for my entry way since...well...since we moved here 2 1/2 years ago! I've had several things in that spot and the most recent is from the picture below (I forgot to take a 'before' of the area) but saw this picture and I think it gives you a good idea. When we were first married I liked to be matchy-matchy. That is no longer the case. Now, I'm about deals, bargains and thrifting to furnish my home. I'd rather take a chance on something for cheap and if it doesn't work out, sell it than thinking I have to hold onto it for a lifetime because of how much I paid for it. Anyway.... I've been looking for a while! :)

Last Friday the boys and I were planning to stay home but it was such a beautiful day out, I decided to head over to church and let Henry play on our churchs' playground. Leaving the neighborhood, I noticed one of my neighbors was having a garage sale. I spotted this piece but we were on our way out. Well, when we came back in, I still saw the piece sitting in the driveway. I hopped out and asked how much. Long story short...I bought this table for $10.00.

A little removal of the hardware, a little sanding, and it was time to paint...
First coat...
Ta-DAH!!
New Paint & New Hardware.
Added some letters to the wall...everything else I had.
I love THIS BLOG. Ever since I saw THIS POST, I've been wanting something in my house that color. It was a perfect piece to try it out on, and I LOVE IT!!
I'm learning the secret...being patient and waiting for that good deal to come along. Unfortunately, that is the hardest part for me! But, so rewarding when it does finally come along!

Overall Cost:
Table $10.00
Paint: $4.00
Hardware: $9.00
Letters: $9.00
= $32.00 and a totally new feeling when you walk into our house
LOVE IT!!

Just not feelin' it?

Here are two cute boys that were NOT feelin' getting their picture taken together. Porter was all smiles when he was by himself and Henry LOVED the idea of getting in a picture with Porter, until it was time to sit close! Then the "Porter touchin' meeeee!" started and Porter was not feelin' having to share Miss Tate either. This picture cracks me up!! Oh well...maybe...someday...we'll get a good one together! :)
It's raining and it's dreary here. We had a busy, busy weekend and we have two overtired boys to prove it!
So we aren't going anywhere and I have a couple of projects to work on today.
I am so thankful that today and everyday i can say....

...the joy of the Lord is your {MY} strength.
Nehemiah 8:10

this is cute!

Since I left you all hanging!

So...I just realized that on my wordless wednesday from here that I never explained it!!!
Well...long, long, long story short. This is a very, very, very sweet girl Rachel who God is using is mighty & awesome ways!! She is a friend of my friend Tate. I met her when she came to church one evening and spoke to our Women's ministry. She talked about her struggle with weight loss and making a choice to FULLY rely on God. I don't even know if I can do the whole story justice but I want to make a little plug on here. After struggling with weight loss all her life, she got an awesome opportunity! She is going to be on a BRAND NEW SHOW coming on May 30 @ 10 p.m.....
This is sweet, beautiful Rachel
...You may have heard something about EXTREME MAKEOVER: Home Edition? Well...this is going to be.....
.... a few weeks ago my friends Tate & Jessica & I
acted like a bunch of giggly teenagers as we thought about what we were going to wear, how to do our hair, etc because there is a CHANCE we might be on TV! I'd say, you probably won't see us but Tate was too funny. she is REALLY, REALLY good friends with her so got us up to the FRONT line...right by the stage....I'd be suprised if weren't seen. It was funny..the whole way there we were thinking how fun this was, a chance to be away from the kiddos for the afternoon, we all looked good...and then we arrived. Rachel is 21 so the majority of the crowd was girls her age. Wow. all the sudden we felt O.L.D. Funny how a few minutes earlier we thought we were IT! LOL ;)
(We really need a new picture of us! This was at my baby shower last summer!!)
Remember when we went to the Farm HERE & HERE?! Well, it was taped there and us girls along with probably 300-400 people were there too for the taping of her big reveal. She looks AMAZING now ya'll. It was EXACTLY one year from when she started at 399 pounds to her weigh in. A-MaZ-InG! Her hard work has paid off big. So proud of her!! She was extremely beautiful before and now..well, you'll just have to tune in to watch! I can't wait to watch the show because it's a whole year of her life into 1 hour. I have no idea how they are going to edit all that. All I know is that producers are being saved, and God's name is being praised because she has reached so many through this year in her life!! awesome!!
So...don't forget...May 30th @ 10p.m!!!
:)
