A new change...

I realize I have not been faithful recently with updating this blog. It's been nice and boring around here visiting with friends and family but no real big excitement. I was able to go to visit my sister in Ohio this past week and check out their new IKEA! LOVED IT! Anyway, I found this light there and of course just as soon as I walked in the door had my awesome husband install it!

Thought for Friday...

When it snows the dogs are so excited; or shall I say Grover is excited and Gisele is always her sleepy, groggy, lazy self! Yesterday when I was home I had cleaned and started to do some work to prepare for Monday. Grover in so many ways is very frustrated with his stature seeing that his "little sis" Gisele passed him up in height and weight in just a manner of weeks! When I came around the corner I was shocked to see him sitting like a cat so he could see the snow falling and watch T.V.!! I've never seen a dog watch TV so much (and I really don't know what I was watching---looks like hamburgers!!).

Last night after supper we did take a walk in the evening. It's so peaceful in the woods with the fresh snow lighting the way. The dogs had a blast and we enjoyed playing hide n go seek and throwing a few snowballs!!

Too Good to be True!

I knew it was too good to be true. I just knew it! I knew a brand promising the "virtually indestructible CHEW GUARD technology" couldn't stand up to our Grover! Here is some of their marketing line, it reads as follows: "The Chew Guard lining was specially engineered to withstand the daily rigors of a dog's play. Dogs are tough but Chew Guard is tougher! All seams are double stitched and reinforced as well. Chew Guard technology is guaranteed to stand up to your toughest chewer." This is the best line...."All Chew Guard toys come with a satisfaction guarantee for the life of the toy!"
If I am not mistaken---this toy is dead. I'm even having trouble locating one of the legs. Grover has always been a powerful chewer. That's why we have always loved rawhide. But, since we've gotten Gisele we have tried to steer clear due to her sensitive stomach. I guess we will just have to keep the pig ears coming! I think I will have to see just how much they "hold up" to their satisfaction guaranteed!

Happy Valentine's!

We have been married 3 1/2 years!
The dogs with their Valentine's....what a hit! (looks like they are both smiling!)

We hope everyone had a great Valentine's day! It was a hectic day for me and I didn't get home until after 6p. Kit called around to different restaurants and it was about an hour wait. Solution? Order pizza in and go out another night! Who says you can't have a romantic dinner for two....at home :)

Rub-a-dub Gisele is in the tub!
Loving the snow!
Is it a dog? a squirrel?!
We've had enough of the mouse!
I know it's been a while since we've posting anything. But, nothing too exciting has been going on around here.
The dogs enjoyed the snow we got on Friday so on my day off we were in and out quite a bit playing in it. I posted a couple pics of the dogs and the one with Grover make me laugh so hard; he looks like an overgrown squirrel or something with his fluffy tail up! haha
We finally got the mouse on Saturday that got into our pantry. We were curled up on the couch Friday night watching a movie when the mouse made it's move and started knocking things off the shelves. That was it! The poison obviously didn't work so that's when we got the snap trap and it didn't take long at all to catch him....hopefully he didn't tell any of his friends!
Last night Grover & Gisele got their baths. Gisele loves them! Grover on the other hand is less than impressed.
We also have switched out all our outlets and cover to nice, crisp white! With this older house, we had white, tan, brown, and of course all with paint splatters on them. So nice to have it all uniform and neat :)
We are hosting a superbowl party tonight so I had better keep moving!

You know you are turning into your Mom...

When you are unable to find a scrap piece of paper to write on until you find the stack of Christmas cards so you rip one card in half and tada! They are sturdy too!

Love you mom ;)

Little People!

Baby JennaAnn Marie

Around the holidays we were able to catch up with a few of our friends and their kids...Gisele was quite fascinated and especially enjoyed "walking" Ann Marie around making sure she didn't get into trouble :) I have a feeling they could easily become partners in crime!

Clint's Birthday....December 28

Erika and I on "Christmas" morning (really the 29th!)
Poor Kit was a little under the weather
We had a great holiday visiting friends and family. We started the celebrations off with Grandma C's birthday on the 24th followed that evening with Christmas Eve Service. Christmas morning we did our presents and then headed off to Kit's parents for more presents and lunch. We had an awesome afternoon of watching old family movies...
The next day started with Kit having an upper GI scope and everything went smoothly. Next stop was Kielyn's birthday party! We enjoyed Berry smoothies and angelfood cake. The 27th we had a day to rest along with getting groceries, doing up laundry, etc and the Wx family came to town. The 28th was Clint's birthday and they came to our house for the afternoon to give the pooches their presents. The 29th was then the Berninger Christmas and my brother and his wife came into town. The 30th was yet another Christmas at Granny's which was awesome seeing cousin's that we hadn't seen for two years.
New Year's Eve we monopoly almost until midnight....
Before you know it is was New Year's day and my sister and her family were leaving to go back home and back to work for Kit and I.
I must confess that I am most definately not the picture taker in the family....my sister is. These are pictures are from her camera that she most graciously let me use :)
Again, we hope that everyone had a great Christmas, Happy New Year and can't wait to see what the Lord has for us in 2008.....
Love,
Kit & Grace

True meaning of Christmas

A quotation in our church’s Advent devotional guide caused me to rethink my approach to Christmas:
“Let us at all costs avoid the temptation to make our Christmas worship a withdrawal from the stress and sorrow of life into a realm of unreal beauty. It was into the real world that Christ came, into the city where there was no room for Him, and into a country where Herod, the murderer of innocents, was king.
“He comes to us, not to shield us from the harshness of the world but to give us the courage and strength to bear it; not to snatch us away by some miracle from the conflict of life, but to give us peace—His peace—in our hearts, by which we may be calmly steadfast while the conflict rages, and be able to bring to the torn world the healing that is peace.”
When Mary and Joseph presented the infant Jesus to the Lord, Simeon said to them: “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” (Luke 2:34-35).
Christmas is not a retreat from reality but an advance into it alongside the Prince of Peace.David C. McCasland

She's home...

Some of you may or may not know that Gisele was recently spayed. We had taken her in two weeks ago and they were concerned about her bloodwork. Yesterday morning, we met with her vet and we agreed to recheck labs and go from there. Her labs were right within the reference range this time and able to have her procedure. They called Kit after surgery to say she did great and they also had to remove a cyst from her ovary. She is home now and doing well! She was weighed two weeks ago at 60 pounds....two weeks later 65! She is definately going through a "continual" growth spurt ;)

Oh, How I love dates!

We had just finished Skating Well, at least you can see the building where we ice skated

I absolutely love spending time with my husband. Today was a productive day for me. I was able to play with the dogs outside this morning while we were getting flurries, send out a few more Christmas cards of people I had missed, wrapped all the christmas presents and just "relaxed". Kit had practice this morning for the christmas program at church and brought home a couple items that we might need if we get "snowed in". Oh how I would love to get snowed in! How fun is it to be with your best friend in your house!
Anyway, back to the story. I was planning on being "in" tonight when Kit spoke up and said, "let's go ice skating!". Now, we haven't been ice skating since the day we got engaged 4 years ago. It was so much fun outside with Christmas music playing as big snowflakes fell gently on your eyelashes ...if that won't get you in the spirit of Christmas! Come to think of it...neither of us fell even once! By the end I was able to skate without squeezing Kit's hand to balance myself;).

Next stop....Starbucks! When Kit ran in to get me my FAVORITE---white chocolate mocha (decaf, please!) I looked up and what else would be there but the IGLOO! Oh how fun to surprise him with a dish of cookie dough....his favorite!

Last stop of the night...the Purdue Christmas tree at the Union. Believe it or not, I had never been so we just had to go. I think more impressive to me was the gingerbread house!

What a great night but driving home the roads definately had gotten worse--maybe we will get "snowed in" after all!! ;)

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh ginormous Christmas Tree!

Lots of work...

Meet Maggie or Marley or...

First of all let me start off by saying this is not our puppy! A friend from Avon got this black lab from Rossville today and stopped in to meet Gisele and Grover. This puppy has not been named yet as it is a surprise for her husband! She has decided though she likes "M" names and Maggie and Marley are at the top of the list....I just love puppy breath!
