29 weeks & brother pictures

Yesterday was one of those days we were ready for church early so I thought I'd snap a few pictures before we left. It was going so well. H&P were working the camera and then we added Wells...

 He was not feeling it. It's like he knows as soon as I start packing the diaper bag where we are going and he just cries, cries, cries. He's not a huge fan of letting us out of his sight. 

 Oh the drama, pouty lip and crocodile tears...

 At the end we finally got him to flash his toothy grin :) 

28 weeks!

I had my 28 week (at almost 29 weeks) appt on Friday. Hard to believe we are in the third trimester! Thankful to have made it to vitality week!




We got another ultrasound this week and it was amazing! Baby girl...yes she is still a SHE ;) looks just perfect and was wiggling and kicking around the whole time. We got a few sweet pictures of her face and I can't stop staring at them. She just looks so much like Kit to me in the pictures and not so much the boys. I can't wait to see if maybe she'll have lighter hair??












It was a great appointment and we are very much looking forward to October!
I grabbed this picture off my blog when I compared all the boys during Wells' pregnancy...and added baby girl. Henry's pic was taken at 34 weeks so he has a lot more chub but the other 3 were all at 28 weeks



When doing the ultrasound the tech and the radiologist both commented on how beautiful she was and asked if my boys were so handsome. Kit had to laugh when I just straight out said, "yes, we have very beautiful babies!" Lol. Yeah, I know I am VERY biased but I do think that the boys were VERY pretty babies. He said he just had to chuckle because I just put it right out there. Well, this proud momma thinks they are all beautiful!

{wood wall}!!!

This weekend we completed a project I've been wanting to do since we've moved in!! One thing we noticed when house shopping is a lot of Texas homes have these "tv niches". The sellers of this house painted the niche brown. Not terrible but not a color I would choose. When looking at the house I thought it would be fun to stencil that niche but the walls are textured and since doing the stripe wall in the entry (what a challenge!) we quickly through that idea out. After looking on Pinterest I found some ideas on a "reclaimed wood wall".  The one below would be our "inspiration" piece.

But where to find the wood? Pallets? Reclaimed? We loved the look but still weren't sure how to get the look on the cheap so we mulled it over. One day I found THIS tutorial and we loved the look. They used fence boards to achieve the look so we looked into it and that's what we ended up doing.

The hardest part was the stain choice. Oh my goodness. You know you are pregnant when you cry over stain. I thought a dark walnut would give us a good look and just putting a sample on the edge of the wood we loved it. Until I did a few boards. ummm. NO. Looking more like 70's paneling :(.

 So, I did what any girl would do...call her dad for help!!! HELP!!! haha! We talked over all the stains and then he sent me pictures of real barnwood so I could see exactly what colors I needed. Who knew gray would be the color I actually needed. 

We ended up using Minwax Classic Gray. 

But it was still looking just "okay". That's when I added paint I had lying around to some boards and then applied the stain.  That helped to break it up and add some variation. This was a fun project. Each board I did was just enough different and it was fun to see how the next board would turn out.

After the boards were done, it was time to hand the project back over to Kit to install it and bring the dream to life! This took him only a few hours to complete and we couldn't be happier with this new look! It has started to bring or family room together. I have a few more projects I want to do in here but glad to this room going. It's been like a vanilla cave for 4 months!! :)

The only reason we were able to get all this done this past weekend was because the boys all had colds. They were miserable at times but thankfully all they wanted to do was lay around. That helped with crowd control to make it a movie day! After laying around all weekend, they are in much better spirits....as you can tell by the pictures below :). 

(For the record. Porter said I could not take his picture. He was "spiderman" and spiderman doesn't take pictures. nice one dude).

The boys completed swimming and had so much fun! We loved miss Ally!




I am dying over this adorable little romper Auntie Kenlyn & the boys sent baby girl. So adorable!!




I need to write a post about our fun with mamaw & papaw during their visit but this was Wells enjoyable some of the fun at the children's museum :-)




The blue bell ice cream factory was a hit!




Oh my. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around a baby GIRL coming in October! By the way..she might be 2 before she has a name! Haha!!




Paint samples for the nursery. H lined up all these paint swatches by himself...I told him to just throw them up. Not H. Ever so precise :-)

Old Wives Tales Gender Predictions for fun.

Here are some old wives tales and it's fun to see how 4 pregnancies have been similar/different:: 

Question: Rumor has it that if you are carrying your baby high, it's a girl. Carrying low? Stock up on blue.

Answer: Okay, on this one I'm going to say that I look the same? Thoughts? I feel like for the most part I'm usually all belly and carry out in front. 


Question: Your baby's heart rate might be an indicator of its gender. if your unborn baby's heart rate is higher, above 140 beats per minute, that means you're carrying a girl. A lower heart rate below 140 bpm means you're having a boy.
Answer: This is not true for me. All my pregnancies have started with a high heart rate in the 160s for first appointments and towards the end come down to around 140s. 

Question: Legends say that if you are having a little girl, she'll steal your beauty. So, if you've got acne and other not-so-pretty skin blemishes, you've got a little princess coming your way.
Answer: this definitely rang true for me. I would not say i'm "glowing" this pregnancy at all. The other pregnancies I did not have acne blemishes and overall felt much much better than this pregnancy. 

Question: Dry hands and cold feet are signs of a boy. So, if you've got these ailments, break out the baby blue.
Answer: I would say this was the opposite for me. Never felt like I had dry skin with the boys but this pregnancy I'm definitely struggling with dry skin. Not sure about the cold feet ;). 

Question: Craving sweets? According to some, that means your going to have a little girl. Salty and sour cravings indicate a boy.
Answer: I can't say I was directly sour or sweet for boys vs. girl. Henry was nachos and banana splits, Porter was donuts (how can I forget how many awful & yummy calories i consumed with him!!!), Wells was orange juice and carrots and milkshakes. This time I would say the number 1 craving is: strawberry!! I tell Kit she may very well have some red/strawberry blonde hair because of all the strawberries I have eaten!! It's a little out of control! ha! I've found if you put a few chocolate chips on a plate in the microwave for a few seconds and then top with strawberries, it's the perfect easy "strawberry & chocolate" fix :). 

Question: Chinese birth charts use your age at conception and the month you conceived to determine the sex of your baby. 

Answer: This predictor was accurate for each pregnancy using each one of my due dates!
The Chinese chart says you're having a boy! (Henry due 12/25/08)

The Chinese chart says you're having a boy! (Porter due 9/10/10)

The Chinese chart says you're having a boy! (Wells due 5/24/12)

The Chinese chart says you're having a girl! (Baby girl due 10/14/13)

Question: morning sickness means pink. If you're stricken with a queasy stomach during your first trimester, think ribbons and bows. If you sail through your pregnancy with nary an upset stomach, it's blue all the way.
Answer: For me, Henry was the easiest pregnancy by far but also, he was my first so I got to put my feet up whenever I wanted and I think that has a lot to do with it. Porter & Baby girl's pregnancy might tie for the worst morning sickness. Moving with 3 small kids definitely didn't help in "taking it easy" the first trimester this time around :). Wells was pretty mild overall. 

Question: After you have your first child look at the back of their hairline- if it is pointed your next child will be of the opposite sex- if it is straight across it will be the same sex....

Answer: This was freaky!! It was correct!!! Wells has a point :)

Question: For those who don't know, linea ligra is the darken vertical line that runs down your abdomen during pregnancy. It usually appears or darkens during the second trimester. 
Answer: This was the one thing that made me think maybe I was having a girl this time? The other 3 pregnancies I got the line right away. Have yet to have one this time. Either for me that's the difference between boy v girl or my body is just exhausted! lol.

Under the weather

This is day 4 of me having a cold that is kicking my tail. Thankfully I got to lay around all weekend with Kit home and he even stayed home yesterday. Hopefully another day of taking it easy & we'll be back up and running. As of right now, I'm thinking an actual tornado might have hit the house. Whatever, I'll get to it later.

25 weeks

After only gaining 2 pounds this entire pregnancy, when I went to my appt on Friday I had gained 7 pounds in one month. Yup, I knew it was going to catch up with me! I had about two weeks where I could not feel satisfied no matter what or how much I ate. 

Maybe it's because it's a girl, or I'm older than I was with my first or the fact i've had 4 pregnancies back to back but this pregnancy has been remarkably different. 

I'll have to do a fun post on old wives tales that were true for me sometime!
