Henry: I can't believe we are on the 2nd half of year two. The days are just flying by and you are such a sweet treasure. Yes, you are TWO and yes, we have frustrating days but lately, the days have been SO good! Henry. You are like a 70 year old man trapped in a 2 year old body. You are so funny and you are so set into a routine it makes me chuckle. If I try to be "fun mom" and "spontaneous" it throws you for a loop. You are a homebody and if we are out you just keep asking, "Can we please go back to Henry's house?". You are definately a little mimick. I must say the word, "actually" alot because lately, that's what you tell me. "Henry, would you like apple juice for breakfast?" H: "Actually, I would like orange juice. Thank you, Momma!" ha! too cute. You pretty much sing the alphabet but somewhere along -l.m.n.o.p- it comes out like -l.m.m.m.p- :).
Counting. Just like anything, when you want to be cooperative you can count to 10. When you don't, you just stare at me like you haven't a clue.
Colors. You get everything but RED. everytime. You know pink. you know purple. Red. nope. still not yet.
You love your tractors and your trains. You are all about airplanes and dumptracks, skidsteers and bulldozers.
This morning we were at Lowe's and I was surprised when you said, "Look Momma! It a foark-wipt. (fork lift). cute.
You are curious about every sound you hear and we talk about it in depth. I never know if it's because it scares you or you are just curious so we talk alot about God is
always with us and we are
safe. That must be something else I say alot because Henry grabs my hand alot and says, "
Don't worry, momma, you're okay. God is with you."
Foods. I'll never fully understand a toddler's diet so being laid back about it is what I think the best answer is. I stopped buying some snacks I didn't think were appropriate and you are offered healthy options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All I know is, a child never starved to death with a full plate of food in front of him. That's my motto and so somedays you eat and eat and eat and others you don't. That's fine, no snacks till the next meal and then you are usually begging to help me set the table so we can eat sooner. That works well for us...
Playtime. This is my most frustrating thing right now. You and Porter. Oh. my. goodness. it's enough to make me lose my mind some days. Porter is now extremely mobile so it's the whole, "IT'S MINE!" and there is pushing and "no, no, porter!" and Porter has learned to pull out the tears and then Henry tries to top it, and so on and so forth. I'm keeping it real here folks, this is
veryfrustratingtome!! We make great strides and then I leave the room for a second and oh my goodness....we'll get there...someday! Also, maybe it's a boy thing but these two are like magnets. can not stop crawling all over and laying on top of each other. it's chaos. When it's not fighting over toys you can be very helpful. You pick up toys, throw away diapers, keep an eye on Porter and help me with unloading the dishwasher, putting away clothes, sweeping and letting Gisele outside. I think you are pretty responsible for two....at times ;)
You love to be outside and "race". You won't even consider learning to peddle your tractor, all you want to do is run, run, run.
You have been pretty adventurous this summer for you, Henry. Picking up lizards, worms, frogs, shooting guns and watching fireworks.
You made us laugh really hard the other night. Henry, you were playing peek-a-boo with porter and we said, "where is Henry?!" (with your hands over your eyes) and you shouted. "I underneath my eyes!!" hahahaha :) cute!
You wear 2T and size 8 shoe. Size 4 diaper. Yesterday you went potty on the potty twice. We are making small strides and I told myself August 1st we'd get more intense about it. I know it's because I need to make up my mind we are potty training so I'm trying to get myself pumped up about it! ha!
We love you Henry Wade. We are so glad and thankful God gave us you!
