Boys will be boys!
brotherly competition

We had a blast this weekend going to Josh & Kenlyn's house! As always, it's fun to catch up and hang out with family. We were able to watch a couple movies in blue ray, race go-karts, play miniature golf along with the PS3 and, the all time highlight for the weekend...going to the melting pot! It was just as good as the first time Kit & I went for our first anniversary. Thanks guys!!!! (Also, thanks to Lakota for putting up with Grover!! :).

Productive days are my favorite!

I am really enjoying these summer days that I get to be outside! Today I was able to pick the rest of the green beans for the summer, pick some more potatoes, weed the flower beds, do three loads of laundry along with sheets (on my clothes line!), make a chocolate zucchini cake and......

MOW!
That's right ladies and gentlemen~ I mowed our yard. For those of you that don't know, I have only mowed one other time in my entire life and let's just say, it didn't go so well!

Not bad....huh? :0). The very sad part of all of this is that I was on my cell phone calling my husband at work trying to figure out how the run the mower! haha

I caught Grover today! Since we have gotten new furniture we have not allowed him to get on it. It has been working quite well. So well in fact, we have been leaving out of his kennel since he's 2 now and he has been handling it very well. I just realized today why he probably likes being home by himself...he's got alot of furniture to choose from! :)

Now, off to cleaning...

Small Town Pride

We enjoyed a laid back, relaxing Saturday. We were able to see both our brothers and their wives. First, was off to see my brother Zach & Amber and their renovations to their house. The tile looks great and the hardwood flooring they picked is really cute (or handsome). :)
We were also able to kick back at Josh & Kenlyn's house. Kit of course always enjoys the multitude of car shows and racing with his brother!

After we returned from Indy, we went to the local small town of Brookston to check our their fireworks. I have to say we were so surprised because they were really good! It was awesome to share in the small town's celebration. Kit decided to take Grover since he had been in his kennel for most of the day. When we first arrived he was so excited to smell and look around....until the fireworks started! Oh how he did not like the loud booms and everyone cheering. Thank goodness we had treats and a blanket! We ended up putting the blanket over him for a while so he felt safe, then he seemed to relax. A couple times Kit had to put his hat over Grover's eyes so he would calm down again. By the end of the show, he was sprawled out relaxin' and just watching them!

Grover finally calming down

My camera obviously doesn't do it justice

What's going on?!

Happy it's all over...can we go home now?!

FIRE!!

Yesterday was an awesome July 4th! We were able to sleep in a little bit and relax. Then, we decided to cross off at least "one thing" off our list. We picked a fire pit. Kit dug the hole, then we decided to go to his parents for rocks at their creek. We got on the mower with Grover behind in the wagon. We choose the rocks and started back up the hll. Well, with a load that heavy we had an awful time getting back up the hill. I was given about 5 seconds of instruction on how to drive and then Kit said, "go!" I gave it gas and the wheels were spinning! After alot of muscle and sweat (mostly Kit) we finally made it up the hill!
We also made it out to see "Transformers". I have to say, it was pretty good :) Then, spent the evening getting ice cream and watching the fireworks on the Purdue golf course with friends.

How sweet it is

Last week was a just "not so good week". My husband is so sweet and brought me home flowers!! I absolutely love flowers and love receiving them!
And I've learn recently that my husband has a small obsession with the "alphabet magnets" so when I went to the grocery store...THERE THEY WERE! haha. You know how they put random things down the aisle to "grab" as you grocery shop?! These magnets were dangling there in the can goods section on clearance! It made me laugh and so of course I had to throw them in the cart :).

Happy Birthday to the Dog?!

Grover has had a wonderful 2nd Birthday! It was filled with some visitors, good naps and most of all...yummy treats! I made his garlic and cheese treats in the shape of dog bones and also threw a few "C"s for fun!
His cake was iced with peanut butter and a splash of honey....sounding good to anyone?!
He has been a lot of fun for us with joys and challenges along the way...

Another Change or Two

Yeah! We got furniture. This is actually a late post b/c we got our furniture last Thursday. We have really been enjoying them! We were able to get two sofas and one ottoman along with an accent upholstered chair. I just got my curtains in the mail so I'll have to post a picture of that when we get them up!

Also, you'll notice a picture of the TV stand. It is still unfinished but has definately come a long way! It is needing shelves and glass doors! I am so excited, the family room is coming together. We have also order living room furniture which should be coming in about 3-4 weeks!

We were also so blessed this past Saturday night to have grandparents and parents come over for a cookout. Kit's brother and wife helped with the organization and grilling and turned out to be quite the enjoyable evening seeing everyone for Father's day! Thanks again Josh & Kenlyn!! :)

A change

My parents were over the other night and I mentioned I might like my candlewick with my table. Before you know it, my dad was acting like he was hosting another episode of "decorating cents" saying things like, "This dining area didn't cost us a thing. We just use pieces they already had." HAHA :)

Morning Times

Poor Kit. Neither Grover or I like getting up in the morning.

Good Times.

Last week was very enjoyable! We had birthdays to celebrate at work and with family, family from out of town to visit with and beautiful weather. My sister came into town with her family and we were able to celebrate Erika's birthday since it will be on the 13th and they will be back home and then shortly afterward, leave for their family vacation.
We also were able to celebrate my Granny's 80th birthday!! It was neat to visit with family, (Yeah! Sean flew in from Texas) and see Granny with all her friends. There is a picture of Sean and me holding a plant. The story is that Christmas 2005 we both gave my Granny an Amaryllis plant. I bought the cheap version from where else but Target and my cousin presented my Granny with a gorgeous red pot. The funny part is mine has bloomed twice and Sean's never has! All it ever does is get those gigantic leaves on it :).
At my parent's barn were 7 little kittens which kept the kids very entertained and also Grover very curious :).
Oh yeah, and Kit was able to go to the Good Guy's car show in Indy with my Dad, nephew, cousin and meet up with my brother. He had a lot of fun and I wish I could show you his raccoon eyes!

Explanation

Alright, alright I guess I need to do a little explaining with the pillow post. NO, we did not get new furniture...yet! Last Saturday we spent the day in Indy going from store to store and came up with ONE (that's right, only ONE) couch that we could agree on. But not only did we just "like" it, we completely fell in love head-over-heels with the style, feel, look, fabric...you name it we were sold!!! So, we got all the necessary information, headed back to Lafayette and pulled into our local Kittles. We asked the salesman if we could order two couches in the style and we were so proud of ourselves, we had the SKU # ready, the fabric name, the fabric color name, the matching pillow name, etc. The salesman was SO excited for he also saw "SALE!" in his near future until..... DA DA DUM...... it seems as though the couch is NO longer available, the manufacturer dropped the couch so we could only buy what is on the floor and in limited quantities. Mind you want is on the floor is a hunter green, I wanted "Doe".
So, with our heads hanging low, we walked out of the store, no deal, no sale and virtually back to square one.
So, we proceeded to hit all our furniture stores in Lafayette for one last attempt "find" what we were looking for. We came upon one couch. Hence, the pillow picture from below. It's similar in style, similar in fabric, etc and for a better price. It seemed to be a little darker than what I wanted but upon bringing the sample home, I do think it will work.
I wanted to e-mail the picture to my sister for opinion and my e-mail wasn't working so I thought I would "post" it and delete it later. Only I forgot!
But of course, when you are ready to make a large purchase of living room and family room furniture, new rugs, etc. then your VW beetle will start giving you fits. It is rather "sick" (lights, dash, fan, etc.) so it's going to the doctor tomorrow. Therefore, the furniture has been put on hold until we find out the damages!

Josh & Kenlyn have been married 5 years today! Time flies...:) Congrats guys, we love you both!

It's Friday!
